Suppressors and NFA Items

We handle NFA transfers for suppressors, short-barreled rifles and shotguns, and other NFA items, through Silencer Shop.

What it costs

Federal tax stamp

$0

For suppressors, short-barreled rifles and shotguns, and AOWs, as of January 1, 2026. Machine guns and destructive devices still carry the $200 tax.

NFA transfer

$50

Per NFA item transferred through 717 Armory.

Kiosk only

$40

Bought your item through another dealer? Use the Silencer Shop kiosk in our store for fingerprints, photos, and your Form 4.

How it works in Pennsylvania

The $0 tax stamp didn't remove the paperwork in Pennsylvania. Under state law, a suppressor still goes through the full ATF Form 4 process, and short-barreled rifles and shotguns need a Form 4 in every state.

  1. Choose your item. Shop Silencer Shop through our link and pick 717 Armory as your dealer, or ask us at the counter.
  2. Register at our kiosk. Your fingerprints, photo, and Form 4 signature are done on the Silencer Shop kiosk in the shop.
  3. Wait for ATF approval. You can't take the item home until the ATF approves your Form 4.
  4. Pick it up. Once approved, you complete the federal form and background check at the counter and take it home.

Federal court rulings are changing this process in some states during 2026. Ask us about the current steps before you buy.
